Bank Holiday Weekend Fun

We love a long weekend, however sometimes it can be a little challenging thinking of new and exciting things to do with little ones. To help tackle that challenge we’ve pulled together a few fun activities that the whole family can enjoy.

Grow a Magic Bean Pole Tent

If you’re looking for a DIY project over the long weekend then this is perfect and requires minimal materials. All you need is some poles, twine or string, soil and pole bean seeds or climbing flower seeds.

Position the poles into a tent formation and secure into the ground. Plant your seeds in the soil around the bottom. Now, unless you’re Jack, this isn’t something that will appear overnight, but we think it's worth the wait. Google ‘Magic Bean Pole Tents’ for inspiration.

Teddy Bear's Picnic

Who doesn’t love a Teddy Bear's Picnic. Gather your cuddly friends and get planning the picnic of a lifetime. We love to get extra creative by using colouring paper or old newspapers and string to make bunting to hang in trees and create a menu of sandwiches for our Teddy Bears to pick from.

Online Art Classes

There are lots of Online Art Classes out there for kids. One of our top ones is Skillshare. There are 13 art classes for kids that range from a course on doodling with an hour-long, 25-step drawing lesson, or 15 minute courses simply on how to draw one giraffe. They also focus on different materials, like how to paint with acrylic and watercolours. Stock up on some art supplies and get drawing.

Visit a Museum...virtually

With museums, galleries and zoos closed to the public you might feel stuck for ideas this weekend. But now, you can take a virtual tour of all their (and your) favourite places like the British Museum, Edinburgh Castle and Stonehenge from the comfort of your own living room.

A Trip to the theatre

Encourage your child’s theatrical side by finding a box of dressing-up clothes and asking them to come up with a story for a play. You might need to prompt them with some ideas but give yourself time to sit back and relax whilst they come up with and rehearse their Oscar winning performance.

Film Night

Make a film night of it. Cook up some hot dogs, pop some popcorn and pick your favourite family film. To make it extra special why not make some kid friendly mocktails?

Happy long weekend.

With love,
